Rich,

Trying to hurt someones business over $100.00??

Who is trying to hurt whose business over $100? Do you think if Civilizzation had honored the deposit I would have written this? Do you think if they called and offered to refund the money I would have left this post up? Do you think if they would have DONE anything other than nothing this whole thing wouldn't have just gone away...instead they've ignored it. Now my blog post pops up right under their website in every search. So by your definition that would be Google's fault..you might want to email Google and blame them for that one. It's not the money, it's the principle. The $100 Bob made that day has been the most expensive $100 he's ever made. As soon as my brother-in-law gets a refund I'll remove the post, until then...Google will continue to work against them.

If anything I would probably go after the person who started this post for trying to defame me.

Something can only be considered defamatory if it is false. My post is 100% based on fact. Here are the facts:

1) Bobby took my brother-in-law's $100 deposit and refused to honor the credit when he returned to buy something. (we have documentation)
2) Bobby lied to my brother-in-law's face claiming he had no record of the transaction when he was looking at the transaction on the computer. (there are multiple witnesses)
3) Bobby physically threatened my brother-in-law (there are multiple witnesses)
4) After a heated exchange my brother-in-law left his store but later called back to work things out with Bobby. Bobby responded by calling the police. (multiple witnesses and the call is on record with the police dept.)

My personal suggestions based on my brother-in-laws experience is that no one should not shop there. If there is anything that I've done here that breaks the law please let me know.

The internet is a great source to sound off, (good or bad) but I do find its a great way to exaggerate sometimes about something or especially have disgruntled employees or competitors hide behind their computer to say unsubstantiated claims.

I've never worked for Bob or sold couches. I've never hidden behind an anonymous post. The website this is posted on is my own name. scottklimt.com...I've never written anything under an alias here. It's MY website. You can find me on Facebook, Linkedin, and a whole bunch of other sites. I'm not hiding from anything.

they have an excellent rating with the BBB.

False. When I wrote this they had 11 complaints. I have't checked lately because I don't care. Wait a second. We might have different definitions of 'excellent' Mine is the one from the dictionary. Which one do you use?

I find this comment board a little odd. To me it sounds like one major disgruntled buyer who is trying to stir the pot. More so, comments posted by previous employees?? Not very credible when they were probably all fired for one reason or another.

Hold on, let me get this right? You're bugged that I'm giving giving you a heads up about a place where someone I know had a horrible customer experience? Does it bother you if someone honks their horn before you back into another car? What about someone telling your shoe lace is untied? If you had a flat tire, would it bug you if someone pulled up next to you to let you know? Or are you just bugged that I'm calling someone to the carpet? Is it the tone in which I wrote it?

In closing...I don't have ANY respect for Bob and his lil' couch company. Their continued "going out of business" advertising is hack marketing. I'm glad someone has had a good experience at Civilizzation. I can't say that I know anyone who has.

My wife just inherited somewhere in the neighborhood of 3.5 million from her Grandmother. We've been waiting for the right time to refurnish our home in Park City and we were genuinely about to go buy out their entire store until we saw this posting.
Thank-you so much for making us aware of the true nature of the owners.

In all fairness from an outside perspective because I have purchased from there in the past too, I find this comment board a little odd. To me it sounds like one major disgruntled buyer who is trying to stir the pot. More so, comments posted by previous employees?? Not very credible when they were probably all fired for one reason or another.

Think about it. They have been in business forever, most employees have been there forever and the business has probably sold millions of dollars in furniture to thousands of customers over the years, but... not ONE lawsuit comes up under the owners name or business entity and they have an excellent rating with the BBB. Heck, R.C Wileys and some other big name stores in town can't even say that.

Could he have possibly handled those scenarios mentioned better than he did? Maybe.. Sounds so. Need to know both sides of the story first. But to paint a broad stroke that he is a bad person or bad business owner is probably not fair. As a business owner myself, I certainly do everything to take care of my customer in situations like this, but every now and then I probably don't handle it correctly myself.

The internet is a great source to sound off, (good or bad) but I do find its a great way to exaggerate sometimes about something or especially have disgruntled employees or competitors hide behind their computer to say unsubstantiated claims. I'm not saying this is at all the case. But I'm thinking there are tons of satisfied customers like myself and I know for a fact I have lots of friends who have had great experiences as well.

Trying to hurt someones business over $100.00?? If anything I would probably go after the person who started this post for trying to defame me.

Anyhow, Just my opinion.

It is too bad that they are going out of business. I thought they had some nice furniture. I guess that is how things go in this economy. I have a few friends that bought and had a good experience with their furniture. They didn't say anything bad about it, only good.

You might be happy to know that this company is now going out of business. They are currently in "liquidation" mode and claim that everything in the store is between 30% and 60% off.

Oh, i should have read the last comment here, haha. Yeah, thanks for the info!

Thanks everyone for posting your comments... I was just ready to hit their going out of business sale. But I think I'll spend my elsewhere.
I own a small business and it is vital to have integrity with customers and employees. They are the ones that make it thrive. With so many comments it's no wonder they are going out of business. Good Riddance!

I'm so glad this is one of the FIRST Websites to come up on google, saved me a lot of wasted time and potentially a lot of wasted money. You should all file suit against this man... I know some very good attorneys :)

Funny thing about the Internet is that it's not so "anonymous" as you think. Our friend James Smith's IP address tracked to....CIVILIZZATION furniture...shocker. Come on guys. A little more stepping up the plate would be appreciated.

I don't think we've met but I appreciate the compliment. In fact, I'll pull that and use it as a quote in my resume.

Scott Klimt is a unique character...definitely one of the most brilliant marketing minds I have ever met. Unfortunately, he is full of $hit. Most of the comments on Scott's site are made up. It is sad that he tries to stick up for people like Tony, who needs some serious counseling and anger management courses.
